FAQ'S - Frequently Asked Questions
Fees & Insurance
Information on my current fee structure is available from Jenny and Carolyn. We are not a Bulk Billing practice and we do request payment at the time of consultation. We accept Visa and Master Card and we have Eftpos facilities. Surgery for skin cancer and trauma on patients over 65 years of age is billed at a reduced rate. Variations to this billing structure are at Dr Magnusson's discretion.
What are your acceptable means of payment?
Bank cheques, personal cheques, cash or credit cards (MasterCard, VISA) are acceptable means of payment. We take Eftpos and that we do not accept Diner's Club cards. We do not accept American Express cards.
Financing Plans through independent financing companies are available. Please inquire within if you are interested.
What about insurance cover?
Neither Medicare nor your private health fund will reimburse any purely cosmetic procedure, including cosmetic consultations. However, you are able to claim a rebate from Medicare and your health fund for other procedures, as long as we have a current referral from you. Please note that there will be an out-of-pocket gap for your surgery, and this varies from one procedure to another. We will give you an estimate of your gap prior to your surgery.
How much will the surgery cost?
The costs of surgery relate to:
- surgeon and assistant surgeon
- anaesthetist
- hospital
- ancillary charge (pharmacy, brassieres etc)
Your surgeon can tell you his fee and give you some indication of the costs of the other people involved in your care.
